Dr. Chew is a native of San Francisco and graduated from Lowell High School with Honors. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with Honors and Distinction in 1991 from Stanford University and his MD and residency training in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, with Honors. Dr. Chew's professional interests include both general adult and pediatric otolaryngology, sinus disease, sleep disorders, and head and neck oncology and endocrine surgery. He is on the medical staff of several community hospitals: California Pacific Medical Center, Chinese Hospital, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, and St. Mary's Medical Center.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Chew has been a Young Physicians delegate to the California Medical Association. He currently chairs the Operative Procedures Committee, and he sits on the Executive Committee of Chinese Hospital and the membership committee of CCHCA. His spouse is also a physician (obstetrics/gynecology) and together they are busy raising a family of five children. Dr. Chew enjoys running and playing guitar, including professional performances with his musical group.
Dr. Chew is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery. He has over 15 years of surgical experience. He performs variety of surgeries at California Pacific Medical Center, St. Mary's Medical Center, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, and Chinese Hospital. Dr. Chew performs sinus surgery, specialized oral/laryngeal surgery, major head & neck surgery (neck dissection, thyroidectomy, parotidectomy, cancer), and ear surgery.

Dr. Louie has been in private practice in Ear, Nose & Throat medicine in San Francisco since 1977. He was born in San Francisco and attended the K-12 public schools. He received his BA from Stanford University and his MD and residency training from Tulane University. Dr. Louie then received his MPA and JD from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. He continues to enjoy practicing community medicine.
He was Associate Medical Director of the Chinese Community Health Plan, a community-based HMO, for 15 years. He is a Past President of the San Francisco Medical Society and a past member of the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. He is a consultant to the CMA Foundation Youth Obesity Prevention project and helped initiate its community physician champions program.
Dr. Louie was elected to the Moraga School District Board in 1998 and served 14 years. He has been on the board of the San Francisco Free Clinic for over 15 years. He has also been on the Board of the California Medical Association Foundation for 8 years, and has been chair of the board (4 years).
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Louie has devoted more time to and become more involved in community and public health issues, particularly minority health disparities, health equity and access, at local, statewide, and national levels.
Dr. Louie has been chair (4 years) of the Board of the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians and was chair (2 years) of the Board of the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum, two national API health advocacy organizations. He serves on the Steering Committee of the Network of Ethnic Physician Organizations. These organizations focus on issues of minority health and healthcare disparities, healthcare and language access, and cultural competency.
In 2012, Dr. Louie was elected to the Steering Committee of the AMA’s Commission to End Health Care Disparities and was appointed to the Board of Directors of Chinese Hospital.
